As a professional manufacturer specializing in industrial ice making machines and intelligent cold storage systems, our company successfully delivered a full-set refrigeration solution for local agricultural, fishery and food trading industries in Africa. This integrated project covers customized industrial ice machine production, modular cold storage design, installation, commissioning and after-sales technical support, aiming to solve the long-standing problems of insufficient fresh food preservation capacity, high post-harvest loss and imperfect local cold chain infrastructure in African regions.
Most African areas feature high temperature, strong ultraviolet radiation, unstable power supply and humid and corrosive coastal/land environments. Traditional refrigeration and ice-making equipment cannot adapt to local harsh operating conditions, resulting in low operating efficiency, high failure rate and short service life. Relying on years of refrigeration equipment R&D and manufacturing experience, we tailored anti-corrosion, energy-saving and power-fluctuation resistant ice machines and cold storage systems for the African market, helping local customers build a stable, low-cost and durable local cold chain system.
Project Background & Market Pain Points
Africa is rich in agricultural products, aquatic products and fresh food resources. However, due to the lack of complete cold chain supporting facilities, fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and meat products suffer from extremely high spoilage and loss rates during harvesting, transportation and sales, which seriously restricts the development of local food trade and agricultural economy.
In addition, local users are faced with multiple industry pain points:
1. Harsh environmental conditions: Long-term high temperature and humidity, coastal salt fog corrosion and dusty environment easily damage ordinary refrigeration equipment;
2. Unstable power supply: Frequent voltage fluctuations and temporary power outages lead to frequent shutdowns and damage of conventional ice machines and cold storage units;
3. High operating cost: Ordinary equipment has large power consumption, which increases the long-term operation burden of local merchants and cooperatives;
4. Single preservation mode: Simple natural storage cannot meet the long-distance transportation and long-term preservation needs of fresh products, limiting market sales radius and profit space.
In order to change the backward situation of local fresh food preservation, the local customer cooperated with our company to launch this integrated ice making and cold storage refrigeration project, to realize standardized production of commercial ice and intelligent low-temperature storage of fresh goods.
Customized Project Solution
According to the local African climate, power environment and customer’s actual business needs, we designed a one-stop refrigeration solution integrating industrial ice making system and intelligent cold storage system, with all equipment optimized and upgraded for African working conditions.
1. Industrial Ice Machine System
We configured high-efficiency flake ice machines and cube ice machines suitable for African fishery and food preservation scenarios. The equipment adopts targeted upgrades:
• Anti-corrosion upgrade: The whole machine is made of thickened stainless steel and anti-salt fog coating, which effectively resists coastal humid corrosion and dust erosion, adapting to African complex outdoor and factory environments;
• Wide voltage adaptation: Equipped with professional voltage stabilization and overload protection devices, it can operate stably under frequent voltage fluctuations, avoiding equipment shutdown and failure caused by unstable local power supply;
• Energy-saving and high-efficiency design: Adopting advanced evaporative refrigeration technology, the ice making speed is fast, the ice shape is uniform and dry, and the unit power consumption is reduced by more than 20% compared with ordinary equipment, greatly saving daily operating costs;
• Easy maintenance structure: Simplified internal mechanical structure and modular design, convenient for local personnel to operate, maintain and replace accessories, solving the problem of difficult after-sales maintenance in remote African areas.
The produced flake ice has soft texture and full coverage, which is very suitable for rapid fresh-keeping of fish and seafood; cube ice is clean and hygienic, meeting the commercial use needs of food processing, market sales and beverage refrigeration.
2. Intelligent Cold Storage System
Matching the ice-making system, we built multi-functional modular cold storage rooms with different temperature zones for customers, including fresh-keeping cold storage (0℃~8℃) for fruits and vegetables, low-temperature freezing storage (-18℃~-25℃) for meat and aquatic products.
• High thermal insulation material: The cold storage uses thickened polyurethane thermal insulation boards with good airtightness, which effectively isolates high external temperature, reduces cold air loss and ensures stable internal temperature of the cold storage in hot African climate;
• Intelligent temperature control system: Equipped with automatic constant temperature control and real-time temperature monitoring system, supporting remote data viewing, 24-hour stable and accurate temperature control, avoiding food deterioration caused by temperature deviation;
• Power failure protection function: Equipped with emergency energy storage and heat preservation device, which can maintain the low-temperature state of the cold storage for a long time after sudden power failure, ensuring the safety of stored goods;
• Dust-proof and ventilation design: Adapted to African dusty environment, with professional ventilation and dust removal structure to keep the internal environment of the cold storage clean and hygienic, meeting food-grade storage standards.

Project Operation Results & Benefits
After the official operation of the African ice machine and cold storage project, it has achieved remarkable economic and social benefits for local customers and the regional industry:
1. Greatly Reduced Fresh Food Loss Rate
The supporting ice-making fresh-keeping and constant-temperature cold storage system solves the problem of difficult preservation of local agricultural and aquatic products. The post-harvest spoilage loss rate of fresh products is reduced from more than 40% to less than 10%, which greatly saves product costs.
2. Expanded Business Market Scale
Stable ice supply and low-temperature storage conditions support customers’ long-distance cross-regional transportation of fresh products, break the restriction of short-distance local sales, greatly expand the sales radius of products, and increase corporate profits significantly.
3. Low Operation & Maintenance Cost
The upgraded energy-saving equipment effectively reduces daily power consumption. The durable anti-corrosion structure reduces equipment failure rate and replacement frequency of accessories, and the overall long-term operation cost is far lower than that of ordinary imported equipment.
4. Promoted Local Cold Chain Development
This project fills the gap of high-quality commercial refrigeration and cold chain infrastructure in the local area, drives the standardized development of local food processing, fishery trade and agricultural product sales industries, and provides a mature and replicable refrigeration solution for surrounding African regions.
